New IahMUD News : Normal Operation
IahMUD News

Hi all,

Atami was all over that "little" mentalstate affecting bug like a bad rash. The source of the problem has been identified and resolved. There should no longer be any of the symptoms listed in the previous article (unless you get sick by not looking after your player).

If you are still ill when you join, it could be because you saved before exiting when your mentalstate was effected by the bug. Please ask for an immortal to restore you to full health. Do not try to beg for healing if it was not caused from this glitch, we will know.

Enjoy.

New Bugs : Mental States
Bugs

Hello,

I am afraid that a problem has emerged with the mentalstate value in the MUD. It is an issue that is causing characters to start feeling sick. This is affecting not only mortals but immortals too.

What this means is that no matter what you do, your character will start feeling ill. This part of the game does have its uses under normal circumstances.

Under normal operation poor mentalstate is caused from the following:

  • Eating food that your character shouldn't eat (getting sick).
  • Becoming cursed
  • Not sleeping enough
  • Not eating enough
  • Not drinking enough

The big problem with this bug is that it really messes around with mortals. When trying to play you can expect the following problems:

  • Random messages stating things like "You can hear your mother crying"
  • Odd objects being in the room, that do not really exist
  • Your character might fall asleep
  • Combat becomes near on impossible
  • Commands sometimes being ignored
  • You may not be able to level up

As this is such a drastic problem, the immortals are trying to resolve this as fast as possible. We are sorry for the inconvenience. However we beg for your patience as we resolve the problem.

Thank you.

New IahMUD News : Connect away!
IahMUD News Hi all,

Everything is running along nicely now. Admittedly, at the start we had some problems with the server. As in... it decided to break on our "grand opening".

Well don't let that little mess deter any of you new players from signing on! The server has been running solid for the last few days.

You should be able to connect from telnet://iahmel.com:4000 or telnet://iahmud.sdf-eu.org:4000

New IahMUD News : IahMUD now online at SDF
IahMUD News Allo there,

Just a quick post to let you all know IahMUD is now running at SDF. Big thanks go out to Tulsileaf for spending a bit of time looking into our compiling errors, which in turn provided us with a successful build.

Do not use the Iahmel.com host name for anything until I let you know its migrated. I have just put in the request for the DNS to move over so I hope it updates quickly. In the past, it's taken less than 12 hours to move over.

Armand (our old system) has done its time as a reliable and stable server. Considering its age (P3 733) and how well it's served us, I will be making Armand a deity which you can devote to in honor of its loyal service to IahMUD.

Thanks to everyone for being patient in the transition phase. We should all be settled in soon and back on track. It shouldn't be much longer before I let SMJ know that we are ready for public use.

Enjoy.

New IahMUD News : Here we are.
IahMUD News Greets everyone,

Here we are, all set up on SDF hardware. The MUD itself is still getting compile errors, so that is still running on our old server for the time being. Until we get the MUD setup here too, I will leave the DNS pointing to the old server.

Once we have the MUD running here, I will have the DNS updated.
